NDP MPP Says Party Promises To Bring Northlander Back

As the return of the Northlander is pushed forward, one NDP MPP feels his party would be the only ones to take its return seriously.

At the Ontario Northland bus station in Timmins earlier this week, Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson spoke on how an NDP government would look to restore the passenger service in the north.

The NDP have stated that their plan is to allow northerners to direct what kind of passenger train service and bus service is brought to Northern Ontario.

Bisson says the NDP plan is to deliver service that treats all regions the same, regardless of geography.

He says if they are to bring back the train, they know the cost is steep, but the reality is that Northerners will decide how.

Bisson says they want to put in a transportation service, both rail and bus, that services the people of the north as they feel it best.

He says the NDP’s plan is based off winning next year’s election which is to be held June 7th, 2018 unless it is called earlier.
