Moonbeam Says No To Medical Marijuana Facility, For Now
The town of Moonbeam has said no, at least for now, to medical marijuana.
At a council meeting Monday, the idea of a medical marijuana dispensary was discussed by council members.
Mayor Gilles Audet says council decided after hearing a presentation from a local long-time advocate of medicinal marijuana to deny the request for a dispensary in Moonbeam.
Robert Neron, a Moonbeam native, made his presentation to council to bring a dispensary to town.
Audet says that considering the government’s recent announcements, council felt it best to wait and see first how they will handle the scenario, before making any decisions on a municipal level.
He says the proposal of a dispensary was given plenty of opposition by residents in attendance, and so the right choice at this time was to say no.
