OPP Service Stats Show Decline In Drug And Property Crime In October

There has been a steady decline in drug and property crimes in Kapuskasing over the past few months.

The OPP released its stats for October for the Kapuskasing area which saw just over 1,220 calls for service.

OPP Media Officer Stephanie Belec says police lay 160 criminal code charges, which was roughly the same amount as the previous pair of months.

Belec says the noticeable change came from a drop in property crimes from 58 the last month to 22 in October, as well as a drop in drug offences from 25 to 11 since September.

She says the decline in drug and property crimes is a positive sign to build off of moving forward.
