A possible change in programming could be costly for Northern Ontarians.

Kapuskasing Mayor Alan Spacek says who is speaking in regards to the possibility of the Weather Channel changing its programming from basic cable packages to premium.

The Weather Channel has not released any information regarding the possible changes.

Spacek says Northern Ontarians rely on the Weather Channel on a daily basis.

He says council feels as if this a public service that everyone should have access too.

Spacek says its fair to say those living up north rely on the Weather Channel even more than those living down south.

The Weather Channel is not commenting at this time.
