OPP Tips For Trick-Or-Treating

As tonight marks the official celebration of Halloween, the OPP is reminding parents and children of their trick-or-treat rules.

OPP Media Officer Stephanie Belec says the police have a 10 rule guide for parents and children as they make their way around the neighbourhoods in Kapuskasing.

Belec says any children under the age of nine need an adult present at all times, and that it is wise to choose face paint over the use of a mask. She says children should wear costumes that have bright fabrics or reflective material, as well as have a flashlight with them.

Belec also says please stay on the sidewalk, only use crosswalks or intersections and always walk facing the direction of traffic. As well, she says all trick-or-treaters must be looking both ways before crossing any streets and they should always be trick-or-treating in a familiar area.

The OPP wishes all parents and children in Kapuskasing a safe and happy Halloween.
