The push for a return of passenger rail service in the north is becoming stronger.
That’s according to Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson, who says the government has failed Northern Ontarians since the closure of the Northlander back in 2012.
Bisson says the Liberal Ontario government promised bus service would improve, which has not happened.
He says currently the Ontario NDP is working on creating a schedule and cost-effective plan for the service’s return.
A group titled All Aboard Northern Ontario has also launched a restoration campaign for the passenger train, as well as a plan for rail and intercity bus service in the Northeast.
