Sears Liquidation Process Begins Thursday, Shutdown Expected To Be Complete By January 2018

The liquidation process has been approved, and now the shutdown begins.

An Ontario Superior Court of Justice has approved a motion to liquidate all remaining Sears’s stores across the country.

Sears Canada’s liquidation sales are scheduled to begin Thursday, October 19th and finish no later than January 21st of 2018, a slight extension from the previously predicted six-week shutdown.

In an earlier interview with Moose News, Sears Hometown Store of Kapuskasing Owner Chris Rody said his three-man staff will all be without jobs at the end of the liquidation process.

Overall Sears Canada will close 130 stores by late January of 2018 putting the retailer completely out of business and 12,000 employees out of work across the country.
