College Boreal Keeping Some Services Open During Strike

Roughly 12,000 students across northeastern Ontario have been kept home from school today.

At 12:01 am today a province-wide college strike began after talks broke down between OPSEU and the College Employer Council on a collective agreement.

President of College Boreal Daniel Giroux says the Kapuskasing campus will see employment services, adult literacy, and continuing education remains open.

Giroux says the strike is unfortunate, but the college is always open to talks with faculty.

He says there is no real way of telling how long the strike will take place.
