PHU Delivers Tips For Avoiding And Dealing With Algae After Remi Lake Tests Positive

The Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change has announced that Remi Lake samples have tested positive for blue-green algae.

Test results from samples taken on September 20th, 2017 have tested positive for cyanobacteria, or algae as it’s more commonly known.

Porcupine Health Unit Public Health Inspector Suzanne Lajoie says the PHU wants to alert residents traveling to Remi Lake for the weekend of what to be aware of.

Lajoie says the biggest precaution you will want to take is avoiding contact with the water.

She also says if you come into contact with the algae in any form you will feel irritated, and if you ingest it, nauseous.
