All four school boards in Northern Ontario are coming together on a common purpose, enhancing education in the North.
On October 2nd Directors of Education, Board Chairs and Administration from all four boards gathered in Timmins to discuss the province’s announced plan to strengthen rural and Northern Education.
Conseil Scolaire Catholique de District des Grand Rivieres Director of Education Lorraine Presley says the plan is a two-part funding process to help keeps schools open and improve infrastructure.
Presley says maintaining their schools are a must.
She says helping to keep schools open in rural communities is the only way to keep education alive and well.
