Sideline Snack Challenge Aims To Improve Healthy Eating For Youth

Trading in some sugary snacks for some healthy ones is the focus this fall.

That is according to Healthy Kids Kapuskasing Project Manager Kaylee Wedge, who says this year’s initiative beginning in October is called Sideline Snack Challenge.

Wedge says the challenge is to get as many local youth sports teams involved with the program as possible.

She says the purpose is to encourage healthy eating, but they will still be promoting an old theme, drinking water.

Wedge says the agreement of the challenge is that every two weeks in October and November teams will be delivered fruits and veggies from Healthy Kids Kapuskasing.

However, Wedge says a major part of the challenge is making sure that parents bring healthy snacks for their kids on the off weeks in between.

To register your local youth sports team up for the challenge you can contact Healthy Kids Kapuskasing, the final day to signup is Friday, September 22nd.
