A Kapuskasing man accused of second-degree murder is seeing his pre-trial motions get underway in Cochrane this week.

Patrick Carignan, a 24-year-old Kapuskasing resident stands accused of the murder of 24-year-old Moonbeam resident Emmanuelle D’Amours back on February 18th of 2015.

The pre-trial hearing and proceedings saw Carignan’s lawyer, Sharon Sabourin, remove herself from the proceedings as his defense back on October 31st of 2016.

Carignan has since hired another lawyer from North Bay in Graham Clark to represent him during the case.

The crown is now informing Mr. Clark of the same evidence presented originally to Ms. Sabourin.
