Kapuskasing Reconsidering Current Contribution To Timmins Medical Clinic

Kapuskasing is reconsidering its annual contribution to the Timmins Medical Clinic.

According to Chair of Finance Dave Plourde, town council has decided to take a new direction.

Plourde says the original agreement in 2006 of $226,000 over 15 years, paid annually at $14,000 per year, was decided based off the DSSAB funding formula at that current time.

He says the decision to reconsider the current contribution comes as the Cochrane District is reconsidering the current DSSAB funding formula.

Plourde says if things stay as they are, there will be no way for the town of Kapuskasing to afford to contribute to the clinic going forward.

He says council will move forward with its decision once the proposed changes to the DSSAB funding formula are finalized.
