Labour Day Stats Show High Number Of Speeding Charges In James Bay Region

Police were busy preventing speeding over the Labour Day weekend in the James Bay Detachment.

The OPP released their statistics for the holiday long weekend as officers responded to 142 calls for service and handed out 76 charges, half of which were for speeding alone.

Media Officer Stephanie Belec says officers were very busy enforcing speeding laws on drivers over the course of the weekend.

Belec says there were only two people charged with impaired driving and only five for distracted driving, which was a low and positive outcome.

The OPP is reminding motorists to always drive with caution.
