Canadian Labour Congress To Launch New Campaign On Labour Day

Labour Day in Kapuskasing this year will bring awareness to the lack of prescription drug coverage for Canadians.

That is at least the hope, according to Kapuskasing and District Labour Council Vice-President Bill DeMontigny, who says following the footsteps of the Canadian Labour Congress they will mark the day with the launch of a campaign during their free barbeque.

DeMontigny says nobody should be forced to choose between paying for groceries and paying for medication, so their campaign is to win a universal prescription drug plan covering all Canadians regardless of income, age or where you live.

He says the barbeque will be a chance for Kapuskasing residents to learn more about the campaign, as well as find out more information on the current work of the labour council.

The free Labour Day BBQ hosted by the KDLC takes place at Riverside Park Monday, September 4th from 11:00am to 2:00pm.
