A boil water advisory has been issued for a portion of residents in Smooth Rock Falls.

The advisory was issued for any residents located in the north end of Fifth Street and it could remain in effect until the weekend according to Ontario Clean Water Agency Senior Operator Denis Dolbec.

Dolbec says the issue began when a water line was accidentally broken on Tuesday.

He says crews are on scene repairing the broken valve before sending off samples of the water to be tested at a lab in Kirkland Lake.

Dolbec says if the samples are to come back clean, the boil water advisory will then be lifted and the town of Smooth Rock will notify all building owners at that time.
