Friendship Centre Joins APANO And Kunuwanimano To Prepare Kids For School

The Indian Friendship Centre in conjunction with APANO and Kunuwanimano services is helping to kick-start the school year on the right note for students in Kapuskasing.

On Monday late afternoon the centre hosted a Back to School BBQ in support of children in the Kapuskasing community who are heading back to school.

One of the organizers of the event was Rhonda Martin, who says it was an easy decision for the centre to give back to the community because it is part of their purpose.

Martin says the appreciation they received in return was more than worth it.

She says they were able to supply 80 students with utensils, a lunchbox, and a school bag.

Martin thanked the fellow organizations which donated food and their efforts in APANO and Kunuwanimano for helping to create a successful event.

She also wants to remind the community they do not need to be of Indigenous background to sign up and be a part of the Indian Friendship Centre, everyone is encouraged to join.
