Cochrane Kid Making Noise In The Junior Golf World

A young Cochrane native is taking the junior golf world by storm.

Kody Fortier, a 13-year-old from Cochrane has started to build himself somewhat of a following in the area after completing his fifth straight tournament win of 2017.

Fortier, who began golfing when he was all of three years old, says his talent comes from the passion his father instilled in him.

He says his coach Matt Vachon will probably always be his only trainer if he can help it.

Vachon, Fortier’s coach for the past few years, runs his own golf academy out of Timmins and says Fortier’s greatest asset is his passion for the game.

He says Fortier’s swing from the moment he saw it was as good a natural swing as he has ever seen.

Fortier won five of the six tournaments he competed in for 2017 after most recently winning the Kirkland Lake Invitational back in mid-August; following a family move to North Bay, he will look to continue his dominance as he moves farther down south.
