Cochrane District Takes Next Step To Stop Proposed Changes To DSSAB Funding

The next step has been taken by municipalities in the district of Cochrane to stop any changes to DSSAB funding and governance.

Kapuskasing Mayor Alan Spacek along with Cochrane Mayor Peter Politis and Hearst Mayor Roger Sigouin met in Ottawa this week at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference with Minister Helena Jaczek.

Spacek says he was pleased with the minister’s level of understanding with the current issues municipalities like Cochrane, Hearst and Kapuskasing are facing.

He says the minister agrees the scenario is very serious for municipalities within the Cochrane District and that the proposed changes are unreasonable

Spacek says Minister Jaczek has also agreed to take the next step of looking into the currently proposed DSSAB changes in a much more detailed fashion.
