If you have any plans to travel out of the country to Africa or Central and Southern America, yellow fever should be on your watch list.
The Porcupine Health Unit wants to remind people traveling to those areas that they need to be vaccinated to protect themselves from yellow fever disease.
However, the PHU also is alerting people that currently there is a shortage of the yellow fever vaccine, making it even more important to set yourself an appointment for a vaccination if necessary.
Public Health Nurse Courtney Langlois (Lang-wah) says the reason for the shortage was manufacturing issues.
Public Health Nurse Courtney Langlois says anyone in Kapuskasing can schedule a travel consult locally and then call the Timmins office to ask about the vaccine.
To find out more about the yellow fever vaccine you can contact your local Porcupine Health Unit.
