Premier Confirms She Will Testify In Sudbury-By-Election Trial

When the Sudbury by-election bribery trial begins in September, we can expect the Premier to testify.

Kathleen Wynne has confirmed she will testify at the trial of two top Liberals charged with bribery under the Ontario Election Act.

Several days in September and October are set aside for the trial but the date Wynne will appear hasn’t been announced.

Gerry Lougheed Junior, a major Liberal fundraiser in Sudbury, and Pat Sorbara, the Premier’s former chief of staff, are charged with bribery.

It’s alleged they asked a candidate to step aside in a 2015 by-election in return for a job or appointment.

Sorbara and Lougheed have always denied bribing the candidate.
