Liberal MP’s Meet To Discuss Northern Priorities

The seven Liberal MPs who represent Northern Ontario have wrapped up a meeting discussing northern priorities.  They will roll out these priorities in an action plan when MPs return to Ottawa in September for the fall sitting of the House of Commons.  Among the priorities are healthcare in First Nation communities, upgrading airports in rural and remote northern communities and improving the quality of care for seniors.  Two other priorities are improving access to affordable living and better freight rail service.  The MP’s met in Thunder Bay and included the MP from Nickel Belt, Marc Serre.    Serre says he and his colleagues have been meeting with northerners over the summer talking about what matters to them.  Other MPs at the planning session were Anthony Rota who represents Nipissing-Timiskaming, Terry Sheehan of Sault Ste. Marie and Paul Lefebvre, the MP for Sudbury.
