Further Talks To Come Before Demonstration Farm Receives All Of Requested Funding

Kapuskasing’s Demonstration Farm will be receiving some upgrades, but only to its fencing.

Town council has decided not to agree to the original terms presented to them in a request for more funding from the Demonstration Farm.

Chair of Finance David Plourde says the $180,000 requested for repairs to fencing, grain storage and barn ventilation left some councillors questioning the total cost.

Plourde says council has some questions regarding costs that they need answered prior to approving the full requested amount.

Plourde says that council has asked for a meeting with the current renter of the farm to discuss some financial details before moving forward.

At this current time, council has approved a $60,000 investment to repair the fencing alone, in hopes of keeping cows from roaming out onto the highway and airport.
