Timmins-James Bay MP Aims To Dismantle Department Of Indigenous Affairs In Quest For NDP Leadership

It’s a major commitment by Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus in his quest to become the leader of the federal New Democrats.

Not only is Angus promising to protect the interests of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit children, he would also dismantle the Department of Indigenous Affairs.

Angus adds he would look at how Indigenous Affairs and Health Canada are run and then let the indigenous communities operate them.

Five people are running for the NDP leadership.

The others are BC MP Peter Julian, Niki Ashton, an MP from Manitoba, Quebec MP Guy Caron and Jagmeet Singh who is a provincial MPP from Ontario.
