Lightning Safety Week A Chance To Educate

Being prepared for when the weather turns worse can be the difference of life and death.

That is according to Service of Canada Meteorologist Peter Kimbell, who says this week was Lightning Safety week across the country.

Kimbell would like to remind the Kapuskasing and Cochrane communities that lightning accounts for more injuries in Canada than any other type of weather event.

He says the best way to avoid lightning is to take shelter immediately inside a house or all-metal automobile when you hear thunder.

Kimbell says you should always stay inside shelter until a minimum of 30 minutes has passed since the last rumble of thunder during a storm.
