How To Recognize Signs Of An Opioid Overdose

You are being urged to learn what to do in case you find someone experiencing an opioid overdose.

The Porcupine Health Unit and Timmins and Area Drug Strategy group says opioid overdoses are the third leading cause of unintentional deaths in Ontario, claiming 734 lives in 2015.

Public Health Nurse Marisa Bedard says the group wants people to know the signs of an overdose and not ignore them.

She says if you come across someone who may be experiencing an overdose, you should try waking them up.

Bedard says if you suspect someone is having an overdose, you should call 911 and start CPR right away.
