Even though it is illegal, people still will leave their pets in cars while they shop.

That is according to Kapuskasing Veterinary Services Dr. Susan Ramkumar, who says you should never leave your pet unattended in a vehicle this summer for any reason.

Ramkumar says there are some things you can do to avoid these scenarios for your pet.

She says leaving your pet in a hot car can be fatal.

Ramkumar says the best advice is to plan ahead when you wish to bring your pet along for drives during the summer months.
