The proposal was to protect Ontarians from unfair and unreasonable rent hikes according to Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson. Bisson says the reason for the proposal is the current laws afford landlords the opportunity to raise rent as they see fit. //www.mykapuskasingnow.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Bisson-Rent-Hike-1.wav Bisson says at the very least they want the Liberals’ upcoming legislation to be retroactive, so landlords do not have free will over raising rent. //www.mykapuskasingnow.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Bisson-Rent-Hike-2.wav The Liberals’ have not changed rent control legislation for landlords during their 14 years of power since the Conservatives first cancelled rent control in 1997.
