Bisson Says Kapuskasing Will Continue Its Role As An Evacuation Centre

Kapuskasing will remain an evacuation centre into the near future.

The new framework agreement signed between provincial and federal governments regarding Kashechewan will not change Kapuskasing’s role in possible future evacuations.

Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson, who was in Kashechewan Friday for the signing of the framework agreement, says Kapuskasing will continue its role moving forward.

Bisson says the agreement signed will give the First Nation a say in where their community goes.

Bisson says this will save the province money, as it has spent millions each year to relocate the Kashechewan community.
