A new Sixties Scoop class action lawsuit has been filed in federal court.
Toronto’s Koskie Minsky has brought the $500 million suit against the Attorney General of Canada.
It’s also looking for $100 million in punitive damages.
The Sixties Scoop was the practice of taking Aboriginal children from their families and placing them in foster homes or adoption with non-Aboriginal families.
The suit alleges this caused mental, emotional, spiritual and physical suffering.
