A new online scam is targeting businesses in the north where fraudsters hack into companies to steal their money.
Sudbury police have discovered scammers pretend to be senior management of a company and send e-mails to the finance division asking for money to make a purchase.
Police say the alleged purchases are fake and the fraudsters are trying to get finance to send them money that they then pocket.
The advice police are giving businesses is if someone is asking for lots of money through an e-mail, confirm the request verbally.
