The Township of Gauthier near Kirkland Lake is getting FedNor money under the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program. The municipality is getting just under $40,000 to install a concrete pad for its ice rink. Right now the surface is sand and limits usage only to the winter. But creating a concrete pad allows the community to use the rink year-round for other activities. The feds have been awarding northern communities with various grants to create legacy projects as we celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday.
