Six people die across Ontario during OPP’s R.I.D.E. festive season

OPP across Ontario have tallied their R.I.D.E. numbers for the holiday period, and they don’t paint a pretty picture.  Figures show that six-people died over the seven week checkpoint period.  Five people were killed as a result of highway collisions and the sixth person was killed in an off-road vehicle.  In addition to the deaths, police investigated 270 crashes where innocent people got hurt as a result of the driver being impaired.  In total, more than 7,300 vehicles were stopped and 610 people were charged with impaired.  And among the cases, police say 270 collisions they investigated resulted in innocent people getting hurt and the cause was an impaired driver.
