Nurses considering strike action

Nurses with the North East Community Care Access Centre are ready to strike to back contract demands.  Although the Ontario Nurses Association didn’t release any numbers, the negotiating committee has a clear strike mandate from its members.  The north east nurses want a contract similar to what their colleagues have negotiated elsewhere in Ontario.  The nurses provide services across the northeast in areas like mental health and addictions as well as end of life support.  They also provide therapy services and health support programs in schools.  The nurses have been without a contract since last March and their committee will bargain with management on January 26th and 27th.
