Northland Power being paid to produce less power

Northland Power in Iroquois Falls is being asked to produce less power for the next four months.  The request is from the Independent Electricity System Operator.  But Northland says despite producing less power, it will still receive the same amount of money under terms of its contract and jobs are not affected.  The Timmins Press says the IESO wants Northland and other similar companies, to produce power when there’s a heavy demand for it.  The IESO says this makes electricity production more efficient because at sites like Northland maintenance costs drop, less natural gas is burned and we get lower amounts of greenhouse gas emissions.
