Six students have graduated from Northern College’s Hard Rock mining program. The students took the 12-week course at the school’s Timmins’ campus. Northern carries out the program in a live setting, in this case the Kidd Operations at the 2,400 training level. The school’s rationale is by giving students hands-on experience, it increases their chances of finding work in the mining industry. The students were taught blasting, rock bolting, mucking and drilling during the three-month program.
