Cap and Trade Will Hurt Consumers

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says all consumers can expect the cost of goods to increase very shortly.  Fedeli says it’s because cap and trade kicks in this weekend.  That’s the new tax the Wynne Liberals have created to curb greenhouse gas emissions and includes adding 4.3 cents a litre at the pumps.  Fedeli doubts companies that depend on transportation to deliver goods will absorb the hit on cap and trade.  Rather, he expects them to pass their additional expense onto consumers thereby increasing the cost on many goods.  Also going up will be your hydro and natural gas bills because cap and trade tax also applies to these utilities.   On another note, Fedeli says the Ontario Liberals continue to hide the Global Adjustment Fund on your Hydro bill.  Fedeli says the global adjustment is what the Liberals are charging us for their Green Energy plan.  He says one company in his riding gets a hydro bill of $55,000 dollars a month and $28,000 goes to the Global Adjustment Fund.  Fedeli says many people don’t even know the global adjustment forms part of their hydro bill.  He says the Liberals won’t show the amount as a separate line item on your bill although the Tories continue to go after them on this point.   Fedeli says the actual cost of energy consumed by the company in question is just more $3,000 a month.
