Detached Housing a Growing Need in Ontario

Young families in Ontario are looking to buy, but are finding it harder and harder to get a detached house at a reasonable price. Studies from the Ontario Real Estate Association show there’s a growing need for detached housing in the province.

Half of people who are looking to buy say they would be more likely to buy a detached house over a condo or duplex. That number is up 13 points when compared to previous years. In more urban areas where there’s not as many detached houses available as there is in the North that number has gone up 21 per cent.

The majority of Ontarians say home ownership is important to them, real estate is a good investment and it makes more sense to own a house rather than rent.
