Former Kapuskasing Resident to Receive Ontario’s Highest Honour

The Executive Director of l’Acceuil Francophone de Thunder Bay, Angele Brunelle, has been nominated to receive the provinces highest honour, the Order of Ontario.

Brunelle moved to Thunder Bay from Kapuskasing over 30 years ago and has worked towards strengthening francophone rights, services and identity in the North. Brunelle’s efforts lead to the development of an independent French Catholic school board which now has 10 schools.

Brunelle has had a significant impact on local French services in the province and was the first chairwoman on the Conseil Scolaire de District Catholique des Aurores Boreales. Brunelle now works for an organization that helps break down barriers for patients receiving health services in French.

She will join the Order of Ontario in a ceremony this summer with 26 other inductees.
