A South American surgeon who now practices at Health Sciences North in Sudbury has received tremendous recognition for his work in medicine. Doctor Antonio Caycedo has been named one of Canada’s 10 Most Influential Hispanic residents. Caycedo has only been practicing at HSN since 2011 and his specialty is colorectal surgery. But in that time he’s introduced his colleagues to new technologies and medical procedures they’ve never seen. In 2012 he performed successful colorectal surgery with medical equipment never used in Canada. And just last year, Caycedo executed an advanced form of colorectal surgery that’s only been done in a handful of Canadian hospitals.
