Hearst and Area Bird Watch This Weekend

This Sunday residents in Hearst are being asked to keep an eye out for all species of birds in the area. The annual bird watch is going to be taking place all day to help count the different species in the area. The goal is to determine population trends and the state of the boreal environment.

You can keep track of all the different birds in the area you see on foot, by vehicle or from the comfort of your own home. Whether it’s blue jays, grey jays, chickadees, eagles or sparrows, as long as it’s spotted within a 12 kilometer radius of the downtown core in Hearst you’re good to go.

The full list of birds spotted in the area should be sent to retired MNRF officer Marc Johnson at [email protected].
