Roadside Garbage and Recycling Reminder

The Town of Kapuskasing would like to remind residents that starting in the New Year they will be implementing a roadside garbage and recycling plan. Public Works employees will be distributing the new bins to residents in January and are asking people to keep in mind the location these bins are placed. The bins will be left in the same spot they should be placed when the truck comes by to pick up the garbage and recycling.

Other communities like Cochrane and Timmins have already started this and Kapuskasing will be following suit. The town recently got in the new trucks and are asking that residents use clear plastic bags for their garbage. The trucks have cameras on them and will be able to see if residents are sorting through everything or not.

The town is expecting a high demand for clear plastic bags and is encouraging local retailers to keep stock in all sizes. The garbage bags must be clear to ensure the program is being followed correctly. The new bins will be handed out to residents over the course of several weeks following Christmas.

More information regarding the new roadside garbage and recycling plan will released as it becomes available.
