Residents Along the James Bay Coast Reminded to Stay Off Water

Police along the James Bay coast are reminding residents to stay off of Moose River. The OPP along with the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service says right now the river is freezing over and there’s large chunks of ice floating into James Bay. Police say boating on the river this time of year is extremely dangerous and can put yourself and those who may have to rescue you at risk. Residents in Moosonee and Moose Factory are being warned to stay off the river during the freeze up.  Police say there are other options for getting around river and are asking that residents use those options in the meantime.
