Update on Car Fire in Kapuskasing

Fire crews were called to the scene of a burning vehicle on Highway 11 this morning. Part of the highway was blocked off in Kapuskasing by the golf course as firefighters tried putting out the blaze.

The Highway has since been reopened.

Fire Chief Pat Kennedy says since it was an older vehicle they think the cause of the fire was mechanical. Kennedy says the owners of the vehicle were headed back to Southern Ontario after a road trip out West. Nobody was injured in the fire, but many of the personal belongings that were in the car have been lost.

Kennedy asks that in situations like this residents stay back and let the fire crews do their job. He says one firefighter was almost hit as they were setting up.
