Millions of Dollars Invested in Northern Ontario Farmers

The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation has provided $3.7-million for Northeastern Ontario farmers with close to $2-million of that going to the Temiskaming-Cochrane area.

Temiskaming-Cochrane MP, John Vanthof says that any farmer is eligible to receive up to $500 per acre as long as they’re inspected and approved.

The funding provided will help farmers clear land and install tile drainage. Vanthof says tile drainage has a huge impact on local farms in Northeastern Ontario and installing it could help double the productivity.

Vanthof says this is especially important in our part of the province as our soil is clay based. The MP says this project will directly impact local farmers.

Vanthof says this funding is not only good for farmers, but the whole region because when farmers are more productive, they create more jobs.
