The annual fishing challenge has come to an end with more winners and prizes handed out than ever before.
The 2017 Kapuskasing River Walleye Tournament saw a record 113 boaters compete in this year’s event.
Organizer of the event Gilles Aubertin says the increase in boaters, also lead to an increase in prize winnings at $30,000.
He says opening the field this year for more boaters was also done to get a better feel for how many are truly interested in taking part in the competition.
Aubertin says one of the highlights was increasing their prize giveaway from previous years.
Aubertin says they plan to shrink the field a little next year, but they do hope they can shell out the same amount of prize money that they did this year.

1st Place – Gaetan and Steven Dorval – $10,000
2nd Place – Jeff Vipond and Sebastien Lizotte – $3,500
3rd Place – Denis Martin and Perry Caverson – $3,000
