Ontario is now stating that First Nations suicides are to be classified as an emergency.
The province has made an announcement that they will begin taking extra measures against the issue, such as the introduction of several different programs to deal with the crisis.
Another decision made by the province to ensure the issue does not worsen is they will send mental health counselors to the remote First Nations communities.
They have also announced that they will be more diligent with creating support systems for First Nations students studying away from home.
The province wants all Indigenous students to feel safe regardless of where they choose to complete their studies.
