The town of Kapuskasing recognized their youth hockey success at town council.

The Atom ‘A’ Icehawks were celebrated Monday night prior to council for their NOHA Championship back in mid-March.

Team Manager Tina Cataford says it was the first time in over 20 years a Kapuskasing Atom level hockey team has won the NOHA title.

Therefore, she says they were the first Kapuskasing Atom hockey team in over two decades to compete in the All-Ontario championship where they reached the semi-final.

Cataford says she has never been more proud of the team in her four years as manager.
