Kapuskasing’s school system is getting a shake-up.
The move is being made to help Cite des Jeunes meet the Ontario Ministry of Education’s 60 per cent occupancy rate.
The Conseil Scolaire Catholique de District des Grandes-Rivieres approved the plans for the restructuring following a survey of parents in the community.
Cite des Jeunes will now host grades 7 through 12, while schools Andre Cary and Jacques Cartier will host students from kindergarten through grade 6.
CSCDGR Director of Education Richard Loiselle says the majority of the community felt this was the best option for restructuring.
The changes to the school system will begin in the fall of 2018.
