Canadians with ALS now have the right to try experimental drugs and treatments before they’re approved by Health Canada. The change is thanks to the Right To Try legislation, a new law that has the support of Nickel Belt MP Marc Serre. Serre supported the Bill as the result of meeting a Sudbury-area man who suffers from the terminal disease. Serre says Jeffrey Perreault has been tireless in his effort to help people with ALS. The new law lets people look for unapproved drugs and treatments but they first need to have approval from a specialist. Also the legislation is open to any patient with a terminal illness.
